I believe therapy is a collaborative and creative process where you can learn new ways to navigate challenges, experience a sense of peace and move towards a more authentic and fulfilling life.
I am guided by a passion to create a supportive and healing space in which you feel empowered to choose change. I approach each therapy session with genuine curiosity and excitement about your personal journey. I want you to show up authentically and be willing to explore who you are, how you feel and what you are experiencing. I welcome any material you need to bring to the sessions to illustrate your experiences, including the latest meme, impactful article or that TikTok video that has you shook!
While I take my work seriously, I also make space for laughter and relaxation. I invite you to embrace these experiences as they happen in our sessions. At times, I will ask us to practice specific meditation or relaxation skills to create change at the moment.
Now, for the technical stuff! I earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I have over ten years of clinical experience in Chicago, providing therapy and supportive services to adolescents, adults and elderly individuals across a wide spectrum of ethnic and cultural groups and LGBTQI individuals. Additionally, I have worked with individuals with chronic medical issues, developmental disabilities, severe and chronic mental illness and substance use disorders. Aside from seeing clients at A New Day MWC, I work in an infectious disease clinic as a medical social worker.
I utilize a holistic approach that incorporates cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused and person – centered therapies. I am trained in treating trauma with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
When I am not working, I am followed around by my cat Texi, trying to keep my plants alive, attempting to cook an overly involved recipe and preparing to run a half or full marathon. I look forward to starting our work together.
